古代畫家喜以果實寄托美好寓意。畫中半開的石榴露出密密麻麻的籽實，颗粒飽满的葡萄，皆象征多子多孫。右上方的橘 (ju) 子取其諧音 "吉 (ji)"，暗含吉祥寓意。
Ancient artists loved to use fruits to convey blessings. In the painting, the half-opened pomegranate reveals densely packed seeds, and the grapes with abundant seeds both symbolize having many children and grandchildren. The orange tangerine "(橘 ju)" in the upper right is chosen for its similar pronunciation to "吉 (ji)," implying an auspicious meaning.
